Annual FILM ARTS FESTIVAL reflects the richness and diversity
of Bay Area filmmakers, the intelligence and probing spirit
of local directors and the incredible depth and breadth
of Bay Area film art. This
year, Film Arts Foundation celebrates twenty-five years
of service to the Northern California film community. In
honor of this silver anniversary, the Film Arts Festival
of Independent Cinema is proud to present over 40 exciting
premiere and rarely seen retrospective works by Bay Area
filmmakers at the Balboa Theater, SomArts Gallery, Fine
Arts Cinema and the Castro Theatre. New documentaries and
feature films share the four-day festival with provocative
shorts programs, master classes, panel discussions and opportunities
for local audiences to interact with film and videomakers.
Saturday at SomArts features
film/video installations, workshops, classes, panel
discussions and an all-day Film Arts Cafe, followed
by screenings at 7pm,
9pm, and midnight,
and two screenings at the Fine Arts Cinema, Berkeley
at 7pm and 9pm.
